What Will I Be Doing?

Initially, after meeting everyone, we would like you to sit back and enjoy the drive through the Watagans National Park. From the bus windows, we often see wallabies and bush turkeys on the road up ahead.

On arrival at the carpark above the cliffs, your guide will fit you with a helmet and a harness.

After a short downhill walk, to the training area, preparation for your first abseil will begin.

Only when you confident and ready, will we start abseiling to the bottom of the cliff.

Training

Safety for everyone participating in the Hunter Valley Abseiling Adventure is paramount at all times. From experience gained after teaching a large number of people, we always start on the sloping ground rather than a cliff this ensures you will have a good understanding of abseil equipment and procedures before stepping over the edge.

The First Time

Remember we want you to have a good experience, not a terrifying one. So with training completed, its time to tackle the cliff and step backwards over the edge -twenty meters of a sheer vertical rock wall located deep in the spectacular Watagans National Park. Abseiling is an experience like no other-its guaranteed to get your heart racing and adrenaline pumping.

Multiple Abseils

There is more than enough time for you to have multiple abseils. You will improve your skills every time you go down. As your nerves and fear subside, you will be able to practice jumping and then drop your way to the bottom rather than walking down. Eventually, we would like to see you up on the Mega drop on your next outing with Walking Rivers.
