Key points, Hunter Valley Abseiling Adventure:
What Will I Be Doing:
First and foremost, we hope you enjoy the ride through the National Park in our Air Conditioned 4 X 4 Troop Carrier, which is a fantastic way to begin your adventure day. Then, when you arrive at the cliffs, you will start your training for your first abseil. Then, once you’re comfortable and ready, we’ll begin abseiling the cliff detailed on our itinerary page.
Last but not least, you’ll have morning tea while looking out at the fantastic views.
Key points, what’s on offer
Abseiling is appropriate for people with varying levels of fitness and ability. Because you receive comprehensive training, no previous experience is necessary.
Being moderately fit is all that is required. However, walking along the track back to the top of the cliff can be demanding for some people.
We have had children as young as ten and adults as old as seventy-eight complete all three cliffs.
Hunter Valley Abseiling Adventure departs from the Freemans Waterholes Cafe at 8 am and returns at approx 12 pm.
Furthermore, our vehicle may be able to pick individuals up directly from their accommodation or home, but this is before the 8.00 am start and at a small extra cost. Contact us to arrange.

Read below about your abseiling experience:
Safety for everyone participating in the Hunter Valley Abseiling Adventure is paramount at all times. From experience gained after teaching a large number of people, we always start on the sloping ground rather than a cliff this ensures you will have a good understanding of abseil equipment and procedures before stepping over the edge.
Your First Time
Remember we want you to have a good experience, not a terrifying one. So with training completed, its time to tackle the cliff and step backwards over the edge -twenty meters of a sheer vertical rock wall located deep in the spectacular Watagans National Park. Abseiling is an experience like no other-its guaranteed to get your heart racing and adrenaline pumping.
There is more than enough time for you to have multiple abseils. You will improve your skills every time you go down. As your nerves and fear subside, you will be able to practice jumping and then drop your way to the bottom rather than walking down. Eventually, we would like to see you up on the Mega drop on your next outing with Walking Rivers.
Our abseiling activities are always done in the Watagan’s National Park, which is approx. a 30 minute drive south west from Newcastle NSW.
