As a measure of your progress, the journey must be difficult but not impossible. Of course, there should be some new things to learn on a Gold Journey, but the essential thing is to have a good time.

Feeling accomplished and euphoric is the only way to describe the sensation we want you to experience.

The start of your Gold Kayaking Award Journey:

Significantly, We have a choice of a few different National parks for the Gold journey. You can choose which area you want to explore.

Before Covid 19, the Gold Kayaking Award journey started with a four day training and practice journey , followed by a four day qualifying journey.

At the moment, the Duke of Edinburgh lets training and practise be a part of the Qualify. That is to say, that everything for the Gold award is done over seven days instead of eight.

Your parents can drive you to the start point. Alternatively, you can board a Walking Rivers vehicle at a railway station or another location we arrange with you and travel with us.

The fun part Paddling and Camping :

With a minimum of four Kayakers and a maximum of seven , you will paddle along, talk to your friends, and learn interesting things about nature.
Another key point, you will also be following a map and learning how to always figure out where you are on it.

Kayaking in hidden waterways, along pristine beaches seeing wildlife, connecting with nature, and sharing different experiences with your friends will all be part of your reward for stepping out and making the Journey.

After a full day of Kayaking, it will be fun to choose your campsite, set up your tent, and make your own dinner.

Lastly, one of the best things you can do is sit around a fire you’ve started with your friends and enjoy the night.
