What is going to happen

Tasks prior to the trip

The first step involves calling us to decide on mutually convenient dates. Once we lock in the dates, it’s crucial that all students visit our Myall Lakes School Camp registration page and register their intention to attend. After we receive the registration at our office, our staff will add students and parent information to our system. Following this, we will send all the parents a digital waiver form, which we hope they promptly fill out and return.

Equally important, students will receive an email with instructions for preparing for Myall Lakes School Camp.

Some of these preparations may include buying and preparing camping equipment. Additionally, we will send all students a comprehensive gear list for all three activities: hiking, kayaking, and camping.

Beginning your Myall Lakes School Camp Journey

Significantly, we have a choice of several different locations within the Myall Lakes National Park to start from. Students’ parents can drive them to the starting point; alternatively, they can all arrive together on a mini bus.

After introductions, we split students into two groups: one group hikes to camp and the second group kayaks to camp. It is approximately 12 kilometres, depending on the chosen start location.

On the return trip the following day, the kids switch roles: kayaks become hikers and hikers become kayakers.

The fun parts kayaking, hiking and camping

Before anything else, students go on adventures in small groups, whether kayaking or hiking, and they chat, make friends, and learn about the outdoors.

Additionally, the kayakers will learn how to paddle, and the hikers will learn to use a map and compass.

Part of the excitement of returning from kayaking or hiking is picking a campsite, putting up your tent, and preparing dinner.

Finally, nothing beats spending the night with friends around a campfire you started.
