RAFTING TRIP ITINERARY
Before you leave home
Your Snowy River adventure begins long before you reach the water.
Once your booking is confirmed, we’ll email you a comprehensive packing list, explaining exactly what to bring and what we’ll provide. Then, approximately one week before departure, one of our guides will give you a call. We’ll answer any last-minute questions, discuss the trip, confirm your travel arrangements and ensure everyone is ready for an unforgettable rafting adventure.
Day one: Journey to the Snowy River
Today we leave the city behind and head for one of Australia’s most iconic wilderness destinations.
Because guests join us from a variety of locations, including Newcastle, Sydney, Canberra and regional airports, we keep our departure times flexible. Our goal is to arrive at our first riverside campsite around midday, giving everyone plenty of time to settle into camp and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Once camp is established, your guides will prepare dinner while you relax beside the river, meet the rest of the group and enjoy your first evening beneath a sky filled with stars.
Day two: Your first day on the river
Today the adventure truly begins.
After breakfast we’ll introduce you to your raft, explain the equipment and conduct a comprehensive safety and paddling session before launching onto the river.
The gentle opening section is the perfect place to develop your skills. You’ll quickly discover that rafting is easier than you imagined, and with your guides close by you’ll soon be confidently working together as a team.
Throughout the day you’ll paddle through beautiful wilderness, enjoying a mixture of gentle flowing water, fun rapids and peaceful pools where there’s always time to stop, swim or simply take in the scenery.
Day three: you are building confidence
By now you’ll be feeling at home on the river.
Your paddling technique becomes more natural, your confidence continues to grow and you’ll begin reading the river for yourself. Every rapid presents a new challenge, while the calmer sections allow plenty of opportunities to relax and appreciate the beauty of the Snowy River.
Rather than rushing from place to place, we paddle at a comfortable pace, spending around four to five hours on the water each day. This relaxed itinerary leaves plenty of time for swimming, photography, wildlife watching and enjoying the wilderness that surrounds us.
Day four: Your final day on the river
By now, life on the Snowy River feels wonderfully familiar. Paddling has become second nature, your confidence has grown with every rapid, and your team works together almost effortlessly.
After a relaxed breakfast, we continue downstream through another beautiful section of the Snowy River, where exciting rapids are balanced by long, peaceful pools and spectacular mountain scenery. Along the way, we’ll visit the historic McKillops Bridge, one of the river’s most recognisable landmarks and an important part of the Snowy River’s history.
Around midday, we complete our rafting adventure and enjoy a well-earned lunch beside the river. Afterwards, everyone lends a hand as we clean and load the rafts and expedition equipment onto the trailer, ready for tomorrow’s journey home.
As the sun sets on your final evening beside the Snowy River, gather around the campfire one last time to enjoy a hearty meal, share stories from the adventure and celebrate an unforgettable few days exploring one of Australia’s most beautiful wilderness rivers.
Day five: Journey home
After breakfast, we pack camp and begin the journey home, arriving back in Newcastle at approximately 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Because wilderness adventures are influenced by weather, river levels and road conditions, we recommend avoiding important appointments on the evening of your return. A little flexibility helps ensure the trip remains relaxed should our arrival be delayed by circumstances beyond our control.
If you’re connecting with flights or making onward travel arrangements, please contact us before booking. We’ll be happy to help you plan the most suitable travel schedule.
